Counselling services

There are many ways of financing studies: employment, cantonal scholarships, private loans or simply family support. The Swiss scholarship and loan system is federally organised and therefore seems confusing to many.

On the one hand, the Advice Center for Study Funding provides information about all these financing options – in person, by telephone or also by email. On the other hand, the University of St.Gallen has a loans and scholarships fund that provides financial support to enrolled students in the Assessment Year, at the Bachelor's and Master's levels.

In addition, there are numerous other public and private bodies that award educational grants. You will find a scholarship and loans database on our website.

German for Academic Studies is intended for those students of the Assessment Year who need to improve their German language skills prior to commencing a programme of studies in German at the University of St.Gallen. For more information, see here.

English for Academic Studies is intended for those students of the Assessment Year who need to improve their English language skills prior to commencing a programme of studies in English at the University of St.Gallen. For more information, see here.

Master students who, according to their self-declaration, have no knowledge of German, are recommended to attend the voluntary intensive German course two weeks before the start of their studies. You will receive an invitation to this course in your Compass mailbox. For questions regarding registration, please contact the Admissions and Crediting Office (admissions@unisg.ch).
